HOW ARE TUTORS VERIFIED?Every Tutor on Tuty is I.D. checked in two ways:
- Tutors are asked to upload a verification document such as a drivers licence during the registration process. You can check what documents have been uploaded as they are visible on the tutor's profile.
- In order for a Tutor to be able to withdraw money, they must undergo a KYC (Know Your Customer) process by our payment gateway (Assembly Payments). This involves an identity check and a confirmation of their banking details to protect against fraud.
HOW LONG DOES A TUTOR HAVE TO RESPOND TO A BOOKING REQUEST?
If the tutor/expert doesn’t respond to your booking request within 24 hours it will be automatically cancelled and you will not be charged. If a tutor makes changes to your booking, you will be asked to accept the new amendments.
WHEN DO I HAVE TO PAY?
You’re only charged once the tutor/expert has confirmed your booking request. The lesson is then scheduled and the payment to the tutor is approved.
If there are any amendments that are made to your booking request then you will only be charged when both parties agree to the changes.
For example, a tutor may suggest a different time or location for your lesson.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HIRE A TUTOR/EXPERT?
The price displayed on the tutors/experts profile is the cost for a one-hour lesson with that person. If you have made a search that is not unit/subject specific, the average cost of the tutor’s hourly rate will be displayed.
Tutors can also offer a variable rate for online lessons, which can be viewed on their profile.
At Tuty, we believe hiring a tutor/expert should be a transparent process. The price you see is the price you pay and is inclusive of Tuty's processing fee. This is all we ask in return for our service.
WHAT IF THE TUTOR CAN’T MAKE IT TO THE LESSON OR DOESN’T SHOW UP?
- Email us and explain what happened.
- We will promptly confirm the details of the scenario.
- You will then be issued a refund.
HOW DO I CANCEL A LESSON?
- Go to ‘My Sessions’ on your side panel.
- Select cancel under actions.
- Lessons that are cancelled within 24 hours will not be refunded.
HOW DO I KNOW A TUTOR IS GOOD?
Tutors can upload documentation to validate the claims on their profiles. This can be files, photos or screenshots of their marks, or even working with children checks and so on.
Ultimately the criteria you use to choose tutors is entirely up to you, we only list tutors who we believe are quality, but please choose someone whose profile matches your learning style for the best outcome. Leave a review and even a comment to the Tuty community know how it went.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The price displayed on the tutor's profile is the total cost for a one-hour lesson with that tutor.
HOW DO I CONTACT THE TUTORS?
When the payment for the lesson has been confirmed the contact details of your tutor/expert can be viewed. Go to ‘My sessions’ and under ‘Actions’ click the view icon to see a tutors contact information.
WHERE WILL THE LESSONS BE HELD?
Depending on what the Tutor or Instructor offers, you can select where you want the lesson to be held – your favourite cafe, at your home, at a library, on campus, or even the tutor’s home.
Using Google Maps enter the address or the name of the place where you want the lesson to be held, and specify any helpful information in the additional notes – ‘meet me outside the main library.’ Or ‘bring notes for week 6’
All this information is then sent to the tutor who then either accepts your request or makes an amendment.
WHAT IS THE LOVE IT GUARANTEE?
Your first hour with a new tutor is protected by Tuty's Love it Guarantee. Unless you’re satisfied with your lesson, you don’t pay. This policy covers any first lesson with a new tutor, and may not be applied for lessons that occur with a tutor with whom you've previously taken lessons.
If you’re unhappy with a lesson, contact us and we’ll issue you a refund.
HOW DO I CHANGE BETWEEN STUDENT AND TUTOR PROFILES?
You can be both a student and a tutor on our website. To seamlessly change between your two accounts hit the arrow next to your profile photo and select the portal you wish to use.
